Musings and Music

As a kid growing up in Chicago, my most cherished possession was a little old GE AM/FM radio with a tinny speaker and a headphone jack. Years before smartphones and the Internet, the small dial on the side of that radio was one of my first ways to explore the outside world. From finding Cubs games on WGN to exploring the music of The Buckinghams to the Beatles to the Boss, my love of music continues to today. Below, an ever-growing list of links and videos to some of my favorite songs of all-time with some random observations thrown in for good measure...

Arguably one of my favorite bands that very few people have heard of, or rather very people in the U.S. have heard of... They're big in their native Canada, kind of like Tim Horton's but with music instead of coffee...

I remember driving around with my dad in his Oldsmobile Ciera in the early '80s, and anytime The Buckinghams came on 104.3, he'd always mention that they came from Chicago. Nothing sounds more like summer than The Beach Boys and The Buckinghams, especially if you can find 'em on the radio dial...
